Woman among four held by cops, 3 firearms and ‘toy gun’ seized

Operations across several policing divisions on Wednesday 29th May, led to the arrest of four suspects, the seizure of three firearms, one toy gun used in a robbery, and a quantity of ammunition.

In one incident, officers in the Tobago Division responded promptly to a report of a Robbery with Aggravation incident, which occurred around 8 pm on Wednesday 29th May, 2024. During the incident, a woman on duty at a business place located in Bethel was allegedly accosted by a man with a black plastic bag covering his head. The assailant allegedly pointed a firearm at the woman and she handed over $350 cash to the assailant, who escaped by running away through some nearby bushes.

Ag Cpl Mckain and officers on Joint Action Patrol who were in the vicinity of the incident, observed a man walking hastily along the roadway and sweating profusely along Bower Road, New Grange, Sou Sou Lands which aroused their suspicion. The officers stopped the man and when they searched him, they found one black toy gun, one black hoodie, one black jeans pants, one black spray paint can, one pair of black sneakers and $350 cash. The suspect was arrested and conveyed to the Shirvan Road Police Station pending further enquiries.

Also, Central Division police conducted an anti- crime exercise yesterday, where search warrants were executed at the homes of several priority offenders. During a search of a residence located in Chase Village, officers found one revolver fitted with six rounds .38 Spl ammunition and one pistol fitted with a magazine containing five round .32 ammunition. A 28-year-old woman was arrested in connection with the seizure.

Meanwhile during Operation Zero Tolerance in the Western Division, based on intelligence obtained, a party of officers proceeded to a basketball court located at Cicada Drive, River Estate, Diego Martin. The officers conducted an extensive search of the area and found one pistol with 13 rounds of nine-millimetre ammunition. Two suspects aged 39 and 20 from Diego Martin were arrested and taken to the West End Police Station. PC Allard is continuing enquires.

Additionally, over the past 48 hours, six persons were arrested when officers executed 11 warrants in the St Joseph Police District, while 12 persons were arrested when officers executed 24 warrants in the Point Fortin Police District.
