Flow scores three at TATT Telecoms Awards

Internet and cable provider Flow walked away with three awards at the recently held Telecommunications and Broadcasting Industry (TBI) Awards hosted by the Telecommunications Authority of Trinidad and Tobago (TATT).

Out of the eight award categories, Flow submitted five entries. The judging panel adjudged Flow top honours for the following categories:
• Connect the Unconnected – for Flow’s Triple A programme
• Green Technology – for Flow’s Paperless Billing Initiative
• Innovative Service Offering – for Flow’s IPTV platform

Present to collect the trophies was Flow Country Manager, Kurleigh Prescod. “I am thrilled that our business is being recognised for its contribution to improving the lives of not only our customers, but the thousands of students who have access to broadband service through our Triple A programme in particular, since our corporate social responsibility programme places the focus on national development,” he said of the achievement.

The Triple A programme provides relief with the installation of free broadband and video service to schools in need throughout Trinidad. In existence since March 2012, its core values – Aim, Aspire, Achieve – easily apply to teachers and students who are determined to succeed.

Convenient and eco-friendly Paperless Billing is an initiative which commenced in 2014 to reduce the company’s carbon footprint. This initiative was activated during a time when ICT in the business process improved efficiencies and competitiveness. The paperless billing is supplemented by the ‘My Account’ App, where customers could check their account online.

The IPTV (Internet Protocol Television) platform provides customers with access to a digital television platform using broadband. This service affords enhanced viewing, programming and interactive features and capabilities. The IPTV interactive features put the spotlight on cloud technology, which allows for video recording and playback; fast forward and rewind; and storage of recordings.

“Our IPTV platform represents the evolution of the customer experience, providing access to a digital television platform using broadband; affording enhanced viewing, programming and interactive features and capabilities,” said Cindy Ann Gatt, Director – Marketing, Trinidad and Curacao, on this award for innovative service. “With 90 per cent of our TV subscriber base on this platform since its 2015 launch, we are indeed proud of this product.”

The inaugural TATT awards, held on December 7 at the Hyatt Regency, recognised and rewarded innovation and excellence in the telecommunications and broadcasting sectors of Trinidad and Tobago.

This signature event was inaugurated to celebrate the 15th Anniversary of TATT, under the theme “celebrating growth and innovation.” The aim, as stated by TATT, was to highlight the outstanding contribution and achievements of key industry stakeholders since the liberalisation of the markets.
