West: PCA will not conduct investigation into incident concerning off-duty police and Traffic Warden

The Police Complaints Authority will not be conducting an independent investigation into the physical altercation between a Traffic Warden and an off-duty Police Officer of the TTPS at this time.

This was confirmed by head of the PCA David West.

The physical altercation between the off-duty officer and the female Traffic Warden occurred on Monday on Frederick Street, Port of Spain.

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service has launched an investigation into the incident.

A video that captured the confrontation went viral on social media.

Members of the public reacted with outrage following the incident questioning whether police now felt that they were above the law.

Speaking with News Power Now this morning PCA Head David West said that they would monitor the investigation undertaken by the TTPS.

He said if they are not satisfied with the results if the investigation then they will initiate their own.

He disclosed that he did not anticipate their investigation – should it become necessary – to take long.
