WATCH: Citizens Close View of the La Soufriere Eruption

The ash plume created by the explosive eruption of La Soufriere on Friday has reached a distance of some 20,000 feet in the air.

According to the National Emergency Management Organization – NEMO, the ash plume is headed east.

Reports reaching One News SVG is that ashfall has been reported as far as Argyle in the southeast, where the main airport is located.

People are still being evacuated from the Red and Orange zones, which are communities closest to the volcano and will be likely to experience volcanic hazards.

Thousands of people are currently in shelters in the Green Zone.
