The Water and Sewerage Authority advises its main Contractor has been mobilized, and is on site, to begin excavation works as investigations continue to determine the cause of the appearance of two sinkholes, along Main Street, Beetham Gardens, Port of Spain.

A third event, a suspected breach of WASA’s sewer line under the river bed in the area of CCC Boulevard is also being investigated.

WASA said at this time, there is no evidence of any effluent discharge into the Beetham Gardens community.

Coordination efforts between agencies are ongoing, due to the existence of several sub-surface infrastructure in the area of the collapsed roadway.
