WASA bans use of water hoses, sprinklers for the rest of dry season

In a bid to clamp down on wastage of water during the dry season WASA has announced that it will be fining persons for using their water hoses.

Currently the water dams are badly affected by the lack of rainfall, as a WASA official said the country was facing the worst drought in many years.

The authority today said it is altering its water supply schedules for many parts of the country, to ration the water supply.

Areas already on a rotational schedule aren’t expected to be affected by the new temporary schedules.

In addition to the ban on using water hoses, other items such as lawn sprinklers and water fountains also cannot be used from midnight tonight, up to June 30th.

The current fine for using these items during the ban is 75 dollars, but a WASA official said an increase to this fine has been approved, though the amount was not revealed.
