Venezuelan man held for marijuana trafficking in Freeport

A 35-year-old Venezuelan man is currently being interrogated by Freeport police in connection with the discovery and seizure of 1.1 kilogrammes of marijuana in the district yesterday morning.

The seized drug has an estimated street value of $15,000.

According to police reports, at 10.15 am on April 21st, a party of police officers attached to the Freeport Police

Station executed a search warrant at the Mission Road, Freeport home of the suspect.

During the raid, police officers allegedly found two packages of marijuana wrapped in green plastic in the bedroom area of the residence.

The man was immediately arrested and is facing drug trafficking charges.

Police translators are currently working with lead investigator,

PC Motiram, as enquiries are ongoing in the matter.
