UWI Host Symposium To Address Crime On Thursday At The Daaga Auditorium From 1pm

On Thursday the University of the West Indies St. Augustine Campus, in collaboration with the Department of Political Science will host a symposium entitled , “Simulating Solutions: Mobilizing Expertise to Combat Crime and Criminality in Trinidad and Tobago.”

This event, takes place at the Daaga Auditorium and UWITV Global, from 1:00pm.

This symposium aims to formulate a policy paper to alleviate the crime crisis in Trinidad and Tobago.

It features proposed measures and legislation from a distinguished panel of experts on combating varied aspects of crime such as drugs and arms control, domestic and school violence, home invasions, robbery and reform of the Criminal Justice System.

Speakers include Justice Winston Anderson – Esteemed Judge of the Caribbean Court of Justice.

Resident Representative for the UNDP Multi-Country Office, Ugo Blanco, asine Shaikh Chief Public Defender, Trinidad & Tobago, Lynette Seebaran-Suite SC – President, Trinidad and Tobago Law Association, Martin Lum Kin – President, Trinidad and Tobago Unified Teachers Association and Corporal Zaheer Ali – Special Investigations Unit, Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
