Unions support TTUTA ‘s protest action

The joint federations have congratulated T&TUTA and the nation’s educators on their very successful action taken on Thursday 22 September, 2022.

The Federations said they also fully support and are in complete solidarity with T&TUTA’s call for rest and reflection on Budget Day today.

A release noted the federations stand firm behind T&TUTA and the nation’s educators who continue to make untold sacrifices for students.

The Federations reaffirm TTUTA’s position that this is really about the entire education system.

The Federations insisted that it’s clear that the system is failing many of the nation’s children and teachers are left to fill the gaps made by this broken system.

The federations also made it clear that the government is currently engaging in bullying tactics and not in free and fair collective bargaining.

They say what’s worse is the government’s insistence of not following the market survey mechanism which is used for collective bargaining in the teaching service.

The Federations reiterated their call for respect to be shown to the nation’s educators who ey say have worked so tirelessly within a broken education system to ensure that the nation’s children have the necessary knowledge and skills to create a future for our country.
