UNC tells Rowley he has much to be thankful to Kamla for

The United National Congress says Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley has been caught over and over again in the most outlandish and blatant lies and should stop looking for cheap distractions.

The UNC’s statement, follows a release yesterday by Rowley, in which he denied that the UNC had anything to do with the arrival of two field hospitals from the US. He said the two field hospitals that were generously donated by the US Government are the result of an agreement made with the US dating back to September 2020.

He said the field hospitals arrived in Trinidad and Tobago last month and that the real problem with the UNC saying the field hospitals are a result of their intervention is that they actually expect to get people to believe that it could be done in two days.

However, the UNC reiterated that on Monday 10 May 2021 at the UNC’s Virtual Report, Kamla Persad-Bissessar stated:
“How are you going to increase bed space, because you are telling us that we are going to have a shortage of bed space as we go along. What are you doing? Do you have a plan?
Can I make a suggestion? Can we write to the US or ask the US or other developed countries? They can help us with the mobile hospital units that they have. We saw it when the height of the pandemic in the developed countries that they were using these mobile [units] because we can build a hospital between now and tomorrow and next week if this bed shortage — and already you’re telling us it’s filled to capacity.”

They said at no time did the Ministry of Health or Keith Rowley ever indicate that this option was available.

According to the UNC, “Keith Rowley should thank Kamla Persad-Bissessar for bringing up the matter on Monday.
“To be certain, Keith Rowley has much for which to be thankful to Kamla Persad-Bissessar.
Keith Rowley should thank Kamla Persad-Bissessar for the 230-bed Couva Hospital. He could look next to the field hospital and he would see it.
“Keith Rowley should thank Kamla Persad-Bissessar for the 218 extra beds at the San Fernando Teaching Hospital.”

They also said “Keith Rowley should thank Kamla Persad-Bissessar for the Arima Hospital; expanded facilities at Caura Hospital; the Point Fortin Hospital; the Debe Campus, which he refused to open due to his spite and hatred; for the Tennis Centre and for writing to the Government of India for the donation of AstraZenica vaccines.

The UNC said Keith Rowley has plunged this country into the worst crisis our nation has ever experienced. “Instead of looking for cheap distractions, he should focus his mind on procuring vaccines for the citizens of Trinidad and Tobago.”
