UNC shares and listens to national concerns with Confederation of Regional Business Chambers

The United National Congress (UNC) held a meeting with the Confederation of Regional Business Chambers on Thursday 9th February. This was in keeping with Political Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar’s stated aim of having the UNC listen to the concerns and proposals of various stakeholder groups throughout Trinidad and Tobago.

Representing the UNC were Political Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, MP, Deputy Political Leader Senator Jearlean John, Deputy Political Leader Dr. Roodal Moonilal, MP, and Deputy Political Leader Dr. David Lee MP.
Leading the 15-member chamber representatives were Chairman Vivek Charran and Vice Chairman Ricardo Mohammed.

The Confederation of Regional Business Chambers represents twelve business chambers and associations throughout Trinidad and Tobago.

The UNC and the Confederation exchanged ideas on national crime prevention, creating an enabling environment for economic growth and expanding educational opportunities for young people.

The UNC also shared the concerns raised by members of the Confederation on the impending rise in electricity rates and the detrimental effect this will have on businesses and the employment rate.

Political Leader Kamla Persad-Bissessar, SC, MP, stressed that these stakeholder meetings are part of a continuous program and that meetings with the Confederation and other organisations will be ongoing.
