UNC: Dragon Field No Quick Fix To T&T’s Decimated Energy Sector

Potential in years to come, this is the assessment the Opposition, United National Congress, on the announcement of a licence being granted to this country for the development of Venezuela’s Dragon Gas field.

However, the UNC said it will not magically fix what it described as Trinidad and Tobago’s decimated energy sector as first gas from this project is years away.

In a media release on Wednesday by Point-a-Pierre Member of Parliament, David Lee, the UNC admitted this announcement offers conceivable benefits for the future.

It also expressed concern about the exploration and monetizing of gas within our own borders which it claimed continue to be a problem.

MP Lee said Trinidad and Tobago needs average 4.1 bcf of gas per day to meet its proper demand.

However, he claimed we are only producing 2.8 bcf.
