The Opposition is of the view more focus has to be placed on attracting foreign direct investment, encourage new business development, diversify the economy or create jobs.
It made the call in its Labour Day Message.
In a media release on Monday, the United National Congress said it continues to stand unequivocally with the workers of this country.
It said it remains relentless in pursuit of prosperity, safety, fairness, peace, bread and justice.
The UNC said working with organized Labour and the Trade Union Movement, it will work towards restoring trade union democracy to its fullest through radical and appropriate amendments to the Industrial Relations Act and other pieces of Labour legislation.
