TTUTA blocked from taking industrial action!

The Industrial Court on Sunday afternoon granted an ex-parte injunction blocking TTUTA from causing its members to stay home today to rest and reflect.

Attorney General Reginald Armour called a media conference yesterday afternoon to announce that the Labour Minister had filed an application with the Industrial Court at 3pm asking for the injunction which it said was needed to prevent the Association from taking action that the AG explained as illegal industrial action.

The AG explained that the teaching service is an essential service and is not allowed to take industrial action.

He said the Union can challenge the injunction before the Industrial Cout on November 24th.

He said the Application was made pursuant to the industrial Relations Act.
