TTPSSWA donates 120 Oximeters to police medical facility

The Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Social and Welfare Association (TTPSSWA) has donated 120 Oximeters to the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service Medical Facility, St. James.
The handover was made on Friday 7th January.

DCP (Ag.) ‘Administration’ Joanne Archie, who accepted the donation, said the TTPS Executive was appreciative of the gesture made by the TTPSSWA. She noted that the Executive has had to manage the health and well-being of officers during the pandemic and all has been done to keep them safe, healthy, motivated and productive. DCP Archie said this was achieved through collaboration with the TTPSSWA, the doctors at the Police Medical Facility and the TTPS’ Covid-19 Response Team, headed by DCP Wendell Williams.

TTPSSWA, President, ASP Gideon Dickson, said the donation was done in a bid to save the lives of officers. He said the Oximeters will aid in the care and management of the officers’ health and the Association looks forward to further partnerships with the TTPS Executive. ASP Dickson said they are seeking to acquire more sanitizing equipment for use by officers in their duties.

Also expressing thanks to the TTPSSWA, was Head of the Medical Team at the Police Medical Facility, Dr. Marie-Joanna Francis. She said the Oximeters are a vital tool in the monitoring of Covid-19 positive officers, as it will help doctors monitor their oxygen levels and allow for early intervention, if the patient’s condition worsens.
