T&T lends support to CARICOM neighbour on La Soufriere volcanic activity

The Government of Trinidad and Tobago is following the developments with the La Soufriere volcano in St. Vincent and the Grenadines very closely, and Prime Minister, Dr. Keith Rowley and Chairman of CARICOM has been briefed and is being updated on the situation.

Minister of Foreign and CARICOM Affairs, Dr. Amery Browne in a statement today said, “contingency plans are being examined as we speak in St. Vincent, and CDEMA has been mobilized to assist via the CARICOM Secretariat.”

Dr. Browne said “we stand in solidarity as always with our brothers and sisters who might be affected by this volcano, and Trinidad and Tobago will certainly do its part to assist the government and people of St. Vincent and the Grenadines during this time of acute challenge.”
