The Elections and Boundaries Commission Call Centre, Administrative Offices and Port-of-Spain/Laventille registration area office and Diego Martin Registration area offices will be closed as a member of staff, has reportedly tested positive for Covid-19.
The EBC’s Scott House, Frederick Street, Port of Spain, location will be closed on Friday 9 th April, 2021 to facilitate sanitization of the building.
In a release issued this afternoon the EBC said “all members of staff who have been in contact with the affected staff member will be tested and the EBC will be working with the relevant units of the Ministry of Health to start contact tracing.”
All members of the public with appointments to renew expired national identification cards on Friday 9 th April at the Diego Martin and Port of Spain/ Laventille Registration Area Offices will be contacted to have these appointments rescheduled.
The public is further advised that its Port of Spain/Laventille Registration Area Office, which serves areas such as Woodbrook, St. James, Port of Spain, Belmont, Gonzales, Morvant, Laventille, St. Ann’s, Cascade, Newtown and several other communities will remain closed to the public in the first instance for at least seven days, that is until Friday 23 rd April, 2021. Persons with confirmed appointments for the Port-of-Spain/Laventille Registration Area, during this period when this Registration Office will be closed, will be contacted to have these appointments rescheduled.
The EBC it implemented all Ministry of Health protocols to mitigate against the spread of this virus and to safeguard the health and well-being of its staff and the public.
The EBC has apologised for the inconvenience by the closure of its offices.
