Ambassador Dennis Francis is this country’s candidate for the Presidency of the United National General Assembly.
It’s a development which also has the backing of Caricom.
The election will be held on June 1st, 2023.
Minister of Foreign and Caricom Affairs, Dr Amery Browne, says there will be several benefits for Trinidad and Tobago should it gain the prestigious position.
Dr Browne expressed confidence in the candidate being put forward who also has the backing of the cabinet.
Speaking at a news briefing held today, Dr Browne said Ambassador Francis has the necessary expertise in diplomatic circles and described him as a good candidate for the cause.
Ambassador Francis has been working at the UN since 2021.
