T&T and Jamaica formalizing commitment to collaborate in the field of sports

The Governments of Trinidad and Tobago and Jamaica are progressing towards formalizing their commitment to collaborative efforts and technical cooperation in the field of sports.

This as Minister of Sport and Community Development, Shamfa Cudjoe Lewis, met with Mrs Suzzette Irvin Ison, Senior Director of Sport Development & Monitoring, and Ms Rani Sarju, Director of Sport Policy Development at the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment & Sport.

This meeting, held on Thursday, January 18, 2024, at the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment & Sport’s Head Office in Jamaica, included the presence of Mr Rixon Powder, Technical Administrator (Sport) in the Ministry of Sport and Community Development.

The ensuing Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), once finalized, will articulate a strategic framework for technical cooperation, emphasizing the exchange of knowledge and expertise across various sports-related domains.

Trinidad and Tobago, alongside Jamaica, are poised to embark on collaborative initiatives spanning institutional cooperation, anti-doping endeavours, promotion of inclusivity, athlete and coach training, programs for differently-abled individuals, safeguarding young athletes and women in sports, and much more.
