Three firearms, marijuana and cocaine seized in Central Trinidad

Three firearms and quantities of ammunition, marijuana and cocaine were seized by officers during several intelligence-led anti-crime exercises this weekend.
In the first exercise, conducted around 9 pm, on Friday 28th April, 2023, officers of the Traffic and Highway Patrol Branch, Barataria, proceeded to Cedar Hill Road, Claxton Bay, where they stopped a white Nissan AD Wagon with three male occupants.
A search of the vehicle resulted in officers finding one Taurus revolver loaded with five rounds of ammunition hidden in the center console.
The three men, ages 30 to 35, of Couva and Williamsville, were arrested in connection with the find.
Meanwhile, during an Operation Grand Slam exercise conducted in the North Eastern Division yesterday, Task Force officers responded to a report of a man allegedly seen escorting another man to an ATM in San Juan.
The men then entered a blue Toyota Yaris motor vehicle which then proceeded to Jogie Road, San Juan.
The officers approached the vehicle and spoke with a man who identified himself as the owner of the car. A search of the vehicle was conducted which resulted in officers finding a Taurus pistol loaded with a magazine containing 14 rounds of ammunition.
The vehicle owner, a 37-year-old of San Juan was arrested in connection with the find.
And officers of the Southern Division, acting on information, proceeded to the Claxton Bay district, yesterday, where they found one firearm.
Meanwhile, quantities of marijuana were taken off the streets with the following seizures and arrests in the Southern, Central and Eastern Divisions:
In the Southern Division, three suspects, of Debe, Claxton Bay and Fyzabad, were arrested by Task Force officers for possession of quantities of marijuana during an anti-crime exercise conducted between 2 pm and 10 pm, on Friday 28th April, 2023.
In the Eastern Division, officers of the Valencia Criminal Investigations Department and Patrol Unit, proceeded to an unoccupied house between 4 pm and 5 pm, yesterday, where they found 3.1 kilogrammes of marijuana and 1.3 kilogrammes of cocaine.
And in the Central Division, a Las Lomas man was arrested for possession of a quantity of marijuana, while one kilogramme of the drug was found and seized in the Chaguanas district.
Investigations are ongoing into all of the above matters.
