Three arrested, drugs, narcotics seized

Police say the arrest of three persons and the seizure of two firearms and a quantity of drugs, during anti-crime exercises conducted across the Northern and North-Central Divisions yesterday has contributed in their fight to get illegal narcotics and guns off the streets.

According to a police statement, officers of North-Central, Area West and the Canine Branch conducted an exercise between 3 am and 10 am, on Wednesday 24 August, 2022, in the Maracas, St Joseph and Tunapuna districts.

During the exercise, two men were held for possession of quantities of marijuana.

Meanwhile, in a separate exercise conducted between 3 pm and 7 pm yesterday, officers of the Maloney Criminal Investigations Department and the Northern Division Task Force, Area North, conducted several searches in the Northern and Eastern Divisions.

The searches resulted in one Beretta pistol and a Taurus pistol being discovered in the Eastern and Northern Divisions respectively.

One man, a 33-year-old, of Princes Town, was arrested in connection with the finds.

Investigations are ongoing.
