Former Police Commissioner Gary Griffith says that the Prime Minister was being disingenuous in recent disparaging comments he made about him.
Speaking at a People’s National Movement meeting in Belmont on Tuesday night, Dr Rowley said that the appointment of Gary Griffith as Police Commissioner was the “biggest mistake” he ever made.
Rowley said his decision then was based on his belief that he should allow appointments of the best people the country had to offer for various roles, regardless of their political affiliations.
However commenting on the matter this morning on the Power Breakfast Show on Power 102 Digital, Griffith said that the Prime Minister’s view has changed drastically since last year.
He said the Prime Minister’s comments have also put the selection of a Police Commissioner in jeopardy.
Prime Minister Dr Rowley had cited the recently completed audit of the Firearms Department of the T&T Police Service saying that it made for “very, very troublesome reading.”
However Mr Griffith said Dr Rowley’s comments on this was a lie.
