Eight persons received a total of $138,000 in cheques for medical assistance from the THA Division of Health and Wellness.
The money will be used for specific services like: transesophageal echocardiogram; complex right total knee replacement with stem; prosthetic leg and an above-knee prosthesis.
Applications for medical assistance is overseen by the Medical Assistance Review Committee (MARC).
MARC is a multi-sectoral body established to assess applications for medical care for persons who are unable to pay for specific types of care that are not available in the public health care system.
