A 17-year-old girl is expected to re-appear in court on April 14th after being charged with Assaulting a Police Officer in the execution of her duties.
The girl was remanded in custody, at the Youth Training Rehabilitation Centre, when she appeared before Master of the High Court Nirala Bansee-Sookhai at the Juvenile Court-on March 17th.
According to police reports, on March 16th 2023 while a teenager was being conveyed to the Children’s Authority headquarters, by a Woman Police Constable, it’s alleged the teenager began to behave in a disorderly manner and used obscene language.
The teen was cautioned and warned by the officer, but her behaviour continued.
It’s alleged when the WPC again spoke to her about her behaviour, the teenager became enraged and assaulted the officer.
The teenager was taken to a nearby police station where she was arrested and subsequently charged by Corporal Farrell for assaulting a police officer in the execution of her duties.
