Suspended Students To Be Compulsory Sent To Milat

Government is seeking to make it compulsory for indiscipline students who are suspended from government or government assisted schools be enrolled in the Military-Led Academic Training Programme.

Milat is a Social Intervention Programme that is specifically designed to help at-risk young men, aged 16-20 years, transform their lives and achieve academic success.

Last year three students were suspended.

This year ten pupils so far have been suspended.

Speaking at a news briefing on Thursday, Education Minister, Dr Nyan Gadbsy Dolly, said the Ministries of Social Development and National Security are also involved in the process in terms of counselling and other forms of support to assist the students to lead productive lives.
