State Of Emergency For Tobago Amid Expected Passage Of Hurricane Beryl

Tobago is under a state of emergency as the sister isle prepares for the passage of Hurricane Beryl.

Confirmation of this comes from Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly, Farley Augustine.

He made the disclosure at a news briefing held on Sunday.

Augustine revealed on Monday all schools in Tobago whether private or public will remain closed.

He said non-essential workers too have been advised to stay at home while only essential workers would be required to report for duty.

Focus the media was told will be placed on emergency health care which will be prioritized and all clinics (including health centres) and elective surgeries will be postponed until further notice.

Both the Roxborough and Scarborough hospitals will target any emergency cases arising out of the passage of Beryl.
