Stakeholders Told To Expect A More Purpose-Driven System With The Full Implementation Local Gov’t Reform

Government is confident there will be a more efficient, effective, and purpose-driven arrangement under a reformed local government system.

Minister of Housing and Urban Development, Camille Robinson-Regis, made the comment while delivering the keynote address to stakeholders on behalf of Prime Minister, Dr Keith Rowley, on Tuesday.

Minister Robinson Regis said the Miscellaneous Provisions (Local Government Reform) Act 2022 offers a ray of hope for all local government representatives.

The Minister said it means the taxes collected in the various municipalities will remain there to be apportioned to work and projects that are deemed necessary for the benefit of the respective communities.

Minister Robinson-Regis commended the Mayors, Chairmen, Councillors and Aldermen on their unswerving dedication to the citizens of Trinidad.
