S’Fo Chamber: Crime’s negative effect on business could impact economy

Crime is having a negative impact on business in Trinidad and Tobago and if something is not done soon, it will have serious consequences on the economy.

This is according to President of the San Fernando Chamber Kiran Singh.

He says that statistically speaking crime has been having a negative impact on businesses and investor confidence in the country as murders and robberies continue to escalate and home invasions continue to increase.

He told News Power Now this morning that while the Chamber noticed that the President sought to alleviate the situation by providing help for the TTPS via the defense force, however this would have challenges.

He lamented the fact criminals responded by invading the homes of those who chose to take the advice to lock up early, sometimes with dire consequences.

The Chamber Head said that if the crime situation continues to worsen businesses could lose big heading into the Christmas season.
