Samsung Galaxy Note20 Ultra: Video Recording

The massive 6.9-inch OLED quad HD+ display on the Galaxy Note 20 Ultra is big, bold and colorful. More important, this is the first Samsung phone to offer a dynamic 120Hz refresh rate. These are ideal specs for the best video recording experience.

The star of the show, 8K recording, was introduced on the S20 series and is supported on the Note20 Ultra with a 21:9 aspect ratio at up to 24 frames per second. There’s also a new Pro Video mode that lets you control the focus, exposure and zoom speed. While you can shoot in 8K, we’d recommend sticking to 4K or even Full HD for the best results, the lower resolutions delivering more stable and less storage-hungry videos.

Samsung has also introduced a whole host of swipes and gestures for easy access to the camera – a simple swipe to flip between front and back cameras makes a lot of sense.

Selfie videos are excellent on the Note20 Ultra – nicely detailed, with wide dynamic range even in backlit situations  and skin tones that we like more in videos than we did in stills.

The Note20 Ultra is the most complete Galaxy and very likely the most complete smartphone you can buy right now.

  • The best display on the market.
  • Surprisingly good battery life for the display/battery combo.
  • Incredibly versatile and well-performing camera system.
