Rowley: No need for border closure despite COVID rise

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley says the current rise in COVID cases does not warrant any interventions from the Government apart from the basic provisions already in place.

Speaking at a press conference this morning, he suggested that there no immediate plans to close the borders or make any other attempt to shut out COVID from entering the country.

He said instead focus is being placed on managing the spread of the virus in the country.

Dr Rowley added that given the level of immunity on the country, the Government can now take less drastic actions to address the spread of the virus.

He nonetheless urged the vulnerable persons in society to get vaccinated or boosted and to take the necessary precautions.
