Robbery suspect captured by police

A Curepe man was remanded into custody by a Chaguanas Magistrate in connection with two robbery incidents which occurred in the Freeport district.

He is expected to reappear at the Chaguanas Magistrates’ Court on 26th February, 2021.

KWESIE MORRIS, 28, of Valsayn Trace, Curepe, was arrested and charged by Freeport officers on February 24th.

On February 20th, a 50-year-old proprietor was at his place of business, located at Southern Main Road, Chase Village, when three men entered and announced a robbery.

One man allegedly pointed a firearm at the proprietor and relieved him of the day’s sale totalling $2,300, his wallet containing two bank cheques, his identification cards and an undisclosed sum of money.

The suspects then ran out of the establishment into neighbouring streets.

In another incident, a lotto manager was at her business place when she was accosted by two men.

The men, one armed with a firearm, pointed it in the direction of the woman and announced a robbery.

The suspects proceeded to rob her of an undisclosed sum of cash which represented the day’s sales as well as one REDMI cell phone valued at $3,000, one Samsung J7 Neo cell phone valued at $1,800, two gold anklets both valued at $4,000, one gold chain and pendant valued at $2,500.

The men then left also running into neighbouring streets.

Through intelligence-led investigations, the Freeport officers captured one suspect, KWESIE MORRIS aka KWESIE CORRASPIE.
