Public warned to be wary of rip currents when visiting the beaches

Reports have indicated that most people who flocked to the beaches on the Boxing Day holiday adhered to the Covid 19 protocols.

Many people visited the beaches to take advantage of some sun, sea and sand on the last day of the long holiday weekend.

Reports also indicate there was a steady flow at Maraca Beach since it opened at 5 am.

Water Safety Education Officer Wayne Drydale warned that while he understood that people were excited to be back in the sea water it is necessary that they obey the instructions of the lifeguards on duty.

This as he pointed out the presence of a lot of rip currents in the water.
