The Minister Agriculture Land and Fisheries Clarence Rambarat says “there is an element of corruption” at the Agriculture Ministry’s County Caroni Office, where he says public officers have been identified as participating in it.
He made the disclosure in Parliament on Monday, on day two of the Standing Finance Committee’s examination of the Budget 2021.
The Committee examined the Agriculture Ministry’s allocation of $695.2 million.
The Minister clarified the different multi-million dollar incentives for farming.
Opposition MP David Lee questioned how the disbursement of the money would be fair.
Rambharat also highlighted the challenges being faced with the use of the manual system used for processing claims adding the importation of digital transformation.
