There is a proposal for the Mayaro Library to be renamed the Michael Anthony Mayaro Library.
A recommendation is also being put forward for “the integration of his literature into our national curriculum ensuring future generations draw wisdom, inspiration and a sense of identity from his writings.
The suggestion comes from Member of Parliament for Mayaro, Rushton Paray.
It was made at the funeral service Saturday for Historian and author Michael Anthony at the St Peter and St Paul RC Church, Radix Village, in Anthony’s hometown of Mayaro.
On August 24th Anthony, 93, passed away at home.
MP Paray says this act would symbolise the highest respect and gratitude of his community, which he deeply loved and portrayed.
Mr Paray called upon the relevant authorities to make this proposal a priority.
