Prof Oura: bad press associated with AstraZenca’s decision to withdraw its Covid vaccine unfortunate

The bad press associated with AstraZenca’s decision to withdraw its Covid vaccine is unfortunate.

That’s the view of Virologist Professor Chris Oura.

The vaccine — called Vaxzevria and developed in partnership with the University of Oxford — has been one of the main Covid-19 vaccines worldwide, with more than 3 billion doses supplied since the first was administered in the United Kingdom on January 4, 2021.

But the vaccine has not generated revenue for AstraZeneca since April 2023, the company said.

It has not been used in the United Kingdom for some time.

Speaking on the Power Breakfast Show this morning Professor Oura said that he informed for every 10 million people that were administered the AstraZenaca vaccine sixty-six developed blood clots.

However he said that the Astra Zeneca vaccine has played an incredible role in treating with the Covid virus around the world.

He said he felt it was an unfortunate development for the company because they created a product that did not yield a large profit.

Professor Oura stated that the company did not make a lot of money because they kept the price down.

The vaccine was available widely to developing and third world countries.
