A 22-year-old man was shot and wounded while travelling in a vehicle along the Lady Young Road in Morvant on Sunday night.
Reports state that at around 11pm, the victim was in a white Nissan Tiida with a 40-year-old man driving along the Lady Young Road, when a gold Toyota NZE car drove alongside them.
An armed man stepped out of the Toyota and then opened fire on both men in the Nissan.
The suspect then ran back into the car and drove off.
One of the men felt a burning in his lower back and realised he was bleeding.
He was taken to hospital where he received emergency surgery last night.
Officers of the North Eastern Division Crime Scene Investigation Unit visited the scene and found 19 spent 5.56 shells.
