One man was killed and a pistol and quantity of ammunition recovered, following a police-involved shooting incident which occurred in the Western Division on Thursday.
The deceased has been identified as 36-year-old Lyndon Mohammed.
Officers of the Western Division Task Force were conducting an exercise around 1:20pm, on Thursday 30th April 2020, when acting on information, they proceeded to the Cocorite residence of a wanted man.
The officers surrounded the house and announced their presence to the suspect who pointed a firearm through a window in the house at the officers and fired two shots at them.
Officers, in accordance with the Use of Force policy, returned fire and quickly gained entry into the house. There, they observed the suspect suffering from gunshot wounds about the body. He was taken to the St. James Medical Complex for treatment where he died.
A Glock 19 pistol loaded with a quantity of ammunition was recovered from the scene.
Investigations are ongoing.
