Police investigating kidnapping and assault of 11-year-old girl

An 11-year-old girl was reportedly kidnapped from her Couva home and assaulted in an incident which is currently engaging the attention of police.

The incident was reported around 7:30 am on Friday in Mc Bean Village, Couva.

Police were told that the child was in the yard of her home when she observed a group of men approaching her.

One of the suspects allegedly covered the victim’s face with a heavy cloth, while the others placed her in a vehicle that was parked nearby.

The victim told police she fell unconscious and woke up sometime after in a room blindfolded and chained to a bed.

She reported that she was physically and sexually assaulted by four suspects.

However, a fifth man entered the room and informed the victim that he was there to help.

He unchained her, allowed her to dress and then instructed her to run.

The victim then ran off in an unknown direction and was found around 8:20 am wandering along Exchange Estate Road Couva by a bus driver, who took her to the Couva Police Station.

The child gave a statement and was taken for medical treatment.

Investigators are currently searching for the suspects.
