Police hold Morvant man with pistol and ammo

One man was arrested and a firearm and quantity of ammunition seized during an anti-crime exercise conducted in the Morvant district on Saturday night.

The exercise was conducted between 9 pm, on Saturday 20th January, 2024 and 1 am, on Sunday 21st January, 2024 and included officers of the Morvant Police Station and personnel of the Trinidad and Tobago Defence Force.

During the exercise, officers were on mobile patrol along Laventille Extension Road, Never Dirty, Morvant, when they stopped and searched a male suspect.

The search resulted in the discovery of one Glock 17 pistol loaded with a magazine containing 17 rounds of ammunition in the man’s possession.

The suspect, a 19-year-old of the area, was arrested in connection with the find.
Investigations are ongoing.
