Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley said he was saddened by what has happened to Minister Marlene Mc Donald But her arrest shows that no one is above the Law. The PM said “I as Prime Minister will be required to take certain actions, and I have no difficulty doing so”.

The PM also said he was not afraid to act to remove Mcdonald is it became necessary but would not speculate until the Police completed their probe. Dr Rowley added that despite what “others say when they get into difficulty with the Law crying witch hunt for election purposes, I hope they now so that everyone is accountable”.

McDonald and her husband Michael Carew will remain in police custody until investigators seek advice from the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions on whether there was sufficient evidence to support the possibility of criminal charges.

In this country persons  are usually detained for 48 hours and released if police cannot gather enough evidence to file charges but that period can be extended in some circumstances.

McDonalds Attorney Pamela Elder SC indicated that her client was offended by some of the questions being asked of her.

Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley  said that he was patient and despite the growing chorus from various sectors to remove Marlene McDonald he intended to wait until the investigations were completed before making any decisions.
