9 children among 13 left homeless following Belmont fire

Fire officials are trying to determine the cause of a fire, which left thirteen people, including nine children homeless after a fire gutted three homes in Belmont on Monday 24th June, 2024.

Around 11:30am, a 28-year-old woman was asleep at her home along Boissierre Lane, Belmont, when she was awoken and informed that her family’s house next door was on fire.

The woman reported that when she looked outside, she observed her uncles’ and aunt’s houses on fire.

Officers of the Belmont fire Station, the Wrightson Road Headquarters as well as the Morvant fire station, led by FSO Leo Ramkissoon responded and they tried to contain the blaze.

However, the fire had spread to three structures on the property.

The officers managed to contain the fire after some time but all the structures were completely destroyed.
