Pastor says it costs $6,000 per month to rehabilitate street dwellers

Police Commissioner Gary Griffith has said that the institution, Transform Life Ministries (TLM), may have been extracting money from families who sent their relatives to the rehabilitation center for help, and there may be some truth to his statement.

In July 2016, during a Joint Select Committee (JSC) of Parliament, Pastor and CEO of TLM Glen Awong said it costs approximately $6,000 for one person’s stay at the Center. The JSC was attended by Awong and included members of other NGO’s including Hulsie Baggan, Administrator of Living Water Community and Wayne Chance, Executive Member of Vision on a Mission. The Committee was established to inquire into the effectiveness of the State’s interventions directed at socially displaced persons in Trinidad and Tobago. Awong would have discussed the services offered to street dwellers as a way to justify the cost.
