Paria survivor “I thought I was dead”

The lone survivor in the Paria pipeline disaster has been giving testimony before the Commisison of Enquiry into the incident.

Christopher Boodram survived while his co-workers Fyzal Kurban, Rishi Nagassar, Kazim Ali Jr and Yusuf Henry all died durign the incident.

The five divers went to No 36 sealine riser on the Berth 6 offshore platform at Pointe-a-Pierre to conduct maintenance works on a pipeline around 2.45 p.m.

However, reports said something went wrong and they were all sucked into the pipeline.

Boodram was the only one who survived the incident.

Boodram recounted the incident in a harrowing testimony.

In tears, and at times speechless, Boodram said he thought he had met his end.
