Parents of five more babies who died at POSGH want answers from the NWRHA

The North-West Regional Health Authority (NWRHA) has been hit with more pre-action protocol letters after the parents of five more babies who died at the Port of Spain General Hospital (POSGH) have come forward.

The five deaths occurred between 2022 and early 2024, and exclude the most recent death recorded at the hospital on Monday.

The names of the new babies are contained in the pre-action protocol letter issued yesterday by Freedom Law Chambers, bringing to 16 the number of babies who have died at the facility from bacterial infections and are being represented by the firm.

According to a pre-action protocol letter delivered to the NWRHA yesterday, babies Roxanne Ariah Fayola Joy Richards, Azariah Rodney, Rafa Anand Affoon, Ekon Marcelle and Azyla Applewhite have been added to the initial list of 11 being represented by the firm.

Reports state that separate legal action will be taken on behalf of the parents of baby Matthew Alexander Ramdass, who died at the San Fernando General Hospital in 2022.
