COP Erla Harewood Christopher condems Cocorite killings

Commissioner of police Erla Harewood Christopher visited the scene of another multiple killing this time in Cocorite on Saturday night. Dead are 36-year-old Jonathan Osmond, of Cocorite who died at the scene. Shaquille Ottley, 22, and Antonio Jack, 57, also of Cocorite, were pronounced dead at hospital. Sadiki Ottley, 31, of Cocorite, died while undergoing treatment.

The Eight others ages 19 to 39 who were shot were taken to the St. James Medical Centre for treatment and then transferred to another institution.

Reports indicate that at around 11pm Saturday, a group of persons were liming on the eastern side of building F in Phase 1, Powder magazine Cocorite when a dark vehicle drove up , two men dressed in dark coloured clothing came out and began shooting indiscriminately .

In response to the incident, CoP Harewood-Christopher immediately summoned a high-powered meeting comprising the Deputy Commissioners of Operations and Intelligence and Investigations, the ACP Criminal Division, the Head of the Homicide Bureau of Investigations, the Head of the Special Investigations Unit and heads of several other Operational Units.

Harewood – Christopher has condemned the latest act of violence, which she described as ‘senseless’. She again assured  the population that the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service will pursue all investigative leads with a view to bringing the perpetrators of this incident to justice, in the shortest possible time.

Homicide Bureau of Investigations, Region One, is continuing investigations.
