Oppositon MP Calls For Extensive Consultations To Address Carnival Related Issues

A proposal is made for there to be extensive consultations to address challenges which have arisen from this year’s carnival.

The recommendation comes from Member of Parliament for Moruga/Tableland, Michelle Benjamin.

Speaking at a news briefing on Thursday the Opposition minister highlighted several matters which have come to the forefront during the festivities.

MP Benjamin said a cut in funding and late disbursement of the money affected some unsponsored bands across the country.

Ms Benjamin appealed for the relevant stakeholders to liaise with those involved in the art form in a meaningful and sustained manner.

There was also a call for the government to give the population a breakdown of the 147 million dollars which was allocated for carnival festivities were spent.
