ODPM warns of heavy rainfall, issues sandbag instructions

The Office of Disaster Preparedness and Management issued a press release reminding citizens that the Trinidad and Tobago Meteorological Service (TTMS) has advised of possible adverse weather. We are currently on risk level: Orange, meaning High Risk.

Adverse weather is expected to go into effect from tomorrow, Sunday 22 September to Monday 23 September, 2019. During this time, heavy or intense downpours, street/flash flooding and gusty winds in excess of 65 km/h can be expected. In light of this, the ODPM is cautioning persons living in low-lying areas, near river banks or those living in flood prone areas to be extra vigilant and take the necessary precaution to preserve life and property.

To that effect, the ODPM has released instructions for the use of sandbags to prevent flooding. They are reminding citizens that T&T is currently not under any Tropical Storm watch.
