Nine Vindra Naipaul Coolman murder accused set to receive $20M from state

$20M dollars in compensation is set to be paid out from the State for ten men who were made to stand on trial for the 2006 murder of business woman Vindra Naipaul Coolman

A Guardian report states that “the money was awarded for malicious prosecution after a default judgement was handed down today.”

This comes seven years after the nine of them were acquitted of the charges.

52 year old Coolman was the chief executive of supermarket chain Xtra Foods.

She was kidnapped from her home at Radix Road, Lange Park, Chaguanas on December 19, 2006 – the kidnappers demanded a $3 million ransom for her release.
