MOWT introduces Solar-Powered Pedestrian Push Buttons

The Ministry of Works and Transport’s Traffic Management Branch has introduced Solar-Powered Pedestrian Push Buttons

The Ministry says this is being done in its drive to modernise the country’s transport infrastructure.

In an update the MOWT said its Traffic Management Branch is carrying out the upgrades.

Some of the key features include:

– Solar-powered (No AC needed)

– Visually impaired-friendly

– Locator tone & voice instructions

– Raised button for directional cues

The Ministry said this new technology demonstrates the Ministry’s commitment to enhancing pedestrian safety. It also aligns with the Ministry’s goal for sustainable infrastructure solutions by relying on clean, renewable energy.

The devices also underscore the MOWT’s drive for inclusivity through accessible features for all road users.
