Morvant man succumbs to injuries sustained in shooting outside a school

A Morvant man is dead after he was shot outside a Morvant school on Thursday.

Twenty-two-year-old Leon Mark of Alexis Street died on Friday night at the Eric Williams Medical Sciences Complex in Mount Hope.

Mark was shot in the arm while outside the Hokett Baptist Primary School in Morvant on Thursday.

Officers of the North Eastern Division’s Crime Scene Unit processed the scene in Morvant and recovered eight 5.56 and two 9 mm shell casings at the scene.

Although the initial gunshot injury was to the arm and was not life-threatening, police said they were told by medical personnel that Mark later developed medical complications as a result of the injury which he succumbed to.
